XSML buys into Dalio

XSML has commited an undisclosed amount to Dalio, a transportation services company based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The financing will enable Dalio to grow its local footprint, with additional offices in Kinshasa and Katanga province. The company is also looking to expand its offering to cover luxury and commercial rentals, including bus and van hire.

XSML was attracted to the deal because it expects the increased global travel to DRC will raise demand for good quality car rental services. The car rental market in DRC is highly fragmented with mainly small local informal car rental companies, according to XSML.

“With an increasing number of flights arriving in Congo DRC, we expect increasing demand for car rental services,” said Marcel Posthuma, managing Ppartner at XSML. “We are keen on supporting an established high quality car rental service operator like Dalio.”

Created in 2008, Dalio offers car rental services to both short and long-term clients. The company currently has offices in Kinshasa and Lumumbashi.
